No Commercial Potential:

That’s for puke from people like you!

Friday Post Wants to Sell You a Bridge15 June 2007

Not much to blather about this week. The part that wasn’t work was spent mostly not going to Aikido, icing my fucked up hamstring, and making these. Which brings me to this…

When I was laid up earlier this year I was pleased and slightly shocked that people seemed very interested in buying my small watercolors, and not just out of pity. I got the impression that they might have bought them anyway. Which was weird. Anyway, it got me to thinking that possibly, just maybe people would be interested in some quality giclee prints of some of my recent stuff (my watercolor back catalog almost all sold). I don’t know how much they would cost me, or exactly what I would charge for them, but I imagine they would be under $100 for a full-size 9“x12” print, and cheaper-still for smaller versions.

All I want from you, assuming anyone reads this noise, is some indication of whether or not you would actually buy a print from me. Or possibly some indication that you think I’m completely deluded. Either’s fine. Just leave a comment. Kthxbye.

And now, your random nonsense

Possibly my favorite client comment ever about a website concept: “Do we have to have navigation on this page?”

If your website needs a little traffic boost, post a link to a photo of Jennifer Connelly, but don’t check the spelling and spell it ‘Jennifer Connolly’ instead and you will get hits from Google Image Search every single day.

Find out why your favorite classic record actually sucks. Craig Finn’s insights on the Doors make me want to be his best friend. (Before I just wanted to be casual ‘hi/bye’ friends with him.)

Sweet Zombie Jesus!

It’s getting harder and harder to do a search on Getty Images and not find boobs. That came up looking for “sewing”. I did not get to include it in the concept flats, sadly.

Future Wheels: Can’t decide if I want this or this.

And now, your random music

  1. Reuben’s Train – The Holy Modal Rounders
  2. Poland – Consolidated
  3. Seven Nation Army – The White Stripes (How mainstream of me.)
  4. Delia’s Gone – Johnny Cash
  5. Fontanelle – Clem Snide
  6. Saint Simon – The Shins (I like The Shins, but they haven’t changed my life.)
  7. Spare-Ohs – Andrew Bird
  8. The Devil’s Right Hand – Steve Earle
  9. Tom Traubert’s Blues – Tom Waits
  10. Song for Lonely Giants – The Mountain Goats

Oh, hey, no Leadbelly this time. Dang.

And now, I give you a song

The upcoming theme for Out of 5 is a song from a band you want to be in. This is a hard one because part of me wants to be in most of the bands I like. So I’m still stuck on deciding. But high up in the running is Nick Cave. By which I don’t mean I necessarily want to be a Bad Seed. I mean I want to be Nick Cave. And this song off the debut of his side project Grinderman is at least a partial illustration of why that might be: No Pussy Blues.

And now, go away.
